What started as a curiosity—or rather, a hobby—back in 2018 has now turned into a full-time profession for me.
As I write this post, I’m reminded of the very first blog article I published. It was about gaming—PUBG, to be specific.
For those of you reading this, my name is Vikas Kumar. Today, I consider myself a full-time blogger, among other things like running a YouTube channel ( Channel Name – Rankknar with 35k Subs as i am writing this post ), Running an SEO agency, and Teaching online amongst other things.
I know it's a lot and i do that all by myself. Self Brag
So when it comes to the question: “How much does a blogger earn in India?” — I feel I’m in a good position to answer it, not with hype, but with real, experience-based insight.
Now, I won’t speak for everyone—but I can certainly share what I’ve learned, what I’ve earned, and how blogging really works in India.
Because let’s face it—the internet is flooded with fake screenshots and inflated income claims. This post is for those who want the truth.
The Reality Check: Can You Really Make Money from Blogging in India?
Yes, absolutely—you can make money from blogging in India.
But here’s the truth most people won’t tell you: it’s not easy, quick, or guaranteed.
Many people jump into blogging after watching YouTube videos titled something like “How a Village Boy Made ₹1 Crore From Blogging”. You get inspired, maybe a little too quickly, and start a blog without even learning the basics. That’s where most go wrong.
Let me be real with you—to earn from blogging, you’ll need:
- Some basic technical knowledge
- Familiarity with WordPress
- A strong grip on SEO
- And most importantly, solid writing skills and real discipline
Oh, and patience.
If you’re just starting out, don’t expect any serious results for at least 12 months.
Yes, one full year.
I personally didn’t make a single dollar for the first 15 months—and I’m glad I didn’t quit.
Also, let me be clear:
There’s no guarantee your first blog will succeed.
Many successful bloggers today started 3–4 failed blogs before they got it right.
Some never succeed at all—and that’s the harsh truth.
A study even revealed that over 80% of blogs fail within the first 18 months.

Now, you might be thinking, “Is this a warning? Should I avoid blogging?”
Not at all. I’m simply giving you the facts so you can develop the right mindset from day one.
Because if you approach it seriously, keep learning, stay consistent, and play the long game—you absolutely can build a blog that earns in dollars.
So, How Exactly Do Bloggers in India Make Money?
There are various ways a blogger can make money—like showing advertisements, doing affiliate marketing, sponsored brand deals, or even getting client work through your website. These are some of the main income channels.
But talking about exact earnings from blog is tricky, because it varies a lot.
For example, I know bloggers who make ₹3–5 lakhs per month from AdSense, and I also know a very humble and talented guy from Arunachal Pradesh who makes around ₹50–60 lakhs a year through affiliate marketing alone.
For privacy reasons, I won’t name him—but I’ve seen the payment screenshot myself, and it honestly blew my mind.

1. Blog Earning Through Google AdSense
Google AdSense is one of the easiest and beginner-friendly ways to earn money from blogging.
It’s an ad delivery platform by Google where you get paid for showing ads on your website. Once your blog gets some decent traffic, you can apply and start earning.
It may not give huge returns at the start, but it’s a great way to start your blogging income if you are just starting out.
2. Blog Earning Through Sponsored Posts
Another method that has worked really well for me is sponsored posts or guest posts.
This is where brands or agencies pay you to publish their article on your blog, usually with a backlink back to their site.
I usually charge anywhere from $100 to $200 per post.
- For software or service-based articles, I can easily charge $200.
- For smaller blogs or general content, I charge around $70–$80.
This is a great way to make money, but it only works if your blog meets a few conditions:
- You need to have good Domain Authority (DA)
- Some traffic on your blog
- Preferably traffic from countries like the US, UK, or Canada
Also, your blog should be at least a few months old—brand-new sites won’t get sponsored offers easily.
In Short:
If you have a 6-month-old blog with AdSense approval and around 15k–30k monthly visitors, you can easily earn:
- Around $100–$200/month if most of the traffic is from India
- But if that same traffic comes from the US or Tier 1 countries, your earnings can easily go up to $1000/month or more

What These Numbers Tell Us
- Multiple income streams win – The biggest earners almost never rely on just one method. While ads provide steady cash flow, it’s the affiliate marketing, digital products, and sponsorships that really scale once you build audience trust.
- Experience matters – As you can see from the list above, nearly all top-earning bloggers have spent years building their blogs. So yes, consistency and patience play a huge role in long-term blogging success.
Take this list with a grain of salt—these are rough estimates based on a mix of well-researched articles, interviews, and self-reported numbers. The goal isn’t to impress but to give you a realistic idea of what’s possible in blogging.
And yes, yours truly makes an appearance at the end of this list—and i am not shamed to share the numbers, because I know I’m still growing. I’ve come a long way, but I also have a long way to go—and I’m proud to be in the game, building brick by brick.
